For 17 years, Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account (ALEA) grants have been
available through DNR for waterfront projects that provide access for
the public to the state's waters – Puget Sound and other marine
waters, lakes, rivers, and wetlands – with special emphasis on
projects that also provide salmon habitat. Beginning in the summer
of 2003, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) is
managing the ALEA grants. ) DNR will continue to
provide the funding for the ALEA Grant Program with iac.
