Request
for Pre-Proposals
Pre-proposals are now being invited for projects requesting: 1) grants of $20,000
or less for smaller scale conservation or education projects, and 2) grants from
$20,000 to $250,000. Larger requests for acquisition/easement projects may be
considered on a case-by-case basis. While matching funds are not required in
either category, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Service encourage
applicants to include matching funds with cash or in-kind contributions where
possible. An approved project should be completed within two years of the award
of the grant. These funds are an opportunity for Puget Sound conservationists
to form local/state partnerships for ecosystem conservation and make
a significant contribution in protecting and enhancing fish, wildlife
and habitat resources in the below described geographic area.
Within a geographic region that includes
Puget Sound, and the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and waters subject
to tidal influence within that geographic area for any of the following
purposes:
- Habitat conservation, protection, restoration and management
projects to benefit the fish and wildlife resources and the
habitats upon which they depend;
- Landowner outreach and incentive programs for restoration
and management of natural resources;
- Public use and natural/cultural projects that benefit the
National Wildlife Refuge System and other federal and state
refuges, reserves and protected natural areas; and
- Collaborative projects from local coastal communities seeking
environmentally and economically sustainable solutions to natural
resource problems.
