NOPLE Meeting Decorum
To
participate in NOPLE meetings, attendees agree to abide by the following
rules:
- Attendees recognize that the chair is in charge of
the meeting, and will immediately abide by all calls for order.
- Attendees should wait until recognized by the chair before speaking
and then address themselves to the chair, speaking only to the current
issue.
- Attendees should treat each other with respect and be sensitive to
the physical, informational, and social needs of others.
- Attendees should refrain from parliamentary maneuvering, political
game playing, or attacking each other's motives.
- Thomas Jefferson's advice is still good: "No one is to disturb
another in his speech by hissing, coughing, spitting, speaking or whispering
to another, etc."
