The strategy identifies salmon species needs, prioritizes geographic areas and types of restoration and protection activities, and identifies local socio-economic and cultural factors as they relate to salmon recovery. These stakeholder-supported strategies increase effective decision-making by lead entities and define and clarify roles between lead entities and the broader salmon recovery planning environment. The NOPLE Habitat Recovery Strategy is continuously updated to reflect new information, and serves the following purposes:
The NOPLE Strategy was originally developed in 2001, was subsequently slightly updated in 2004, and is currently undergoing further revision, to be completed before the 2005 6th SRFB Round. The strategy guides SRFB project prioritization decisions made by NOPLE. For the purposes of completing a SRFB application, the project applicant will need a copy of the strategy. Acronyms
