Theme: “NOPLE Who, Why, What, How & You”

Prioritized goals

1. Assist and/or refer potential habitat recovery applicants to relevant resources.
2. Invite and involve stakeholders (including community) in setting habitat priorities and implementing recovery, and encourage and assist the formation of watershed-based stewardship groups to reach out to others within the watershed.
3. Educate and direct the local general public (land-owners, residents) to local salmon and watershed information, recovery resources, and citizen involvement opportunities
4. Inform local governments of efforts and priorities and seek their support
5. Showcase local salmon recovery efforts.

Implementation

• Central website-based clearinghouse for local salmon, habitat, and watershed information and recovery resources
• Watershed-scale Watershed Page for each NOPLE watershed, to compile relevant habitat information to reflect regional, NOPLE-wide, as well as watershed-scale priorities, and to encourage and assist watershed-based stewardship groups
• Salmon habitat recovery projects that
  • employ displaced-natural resource workers.
  • provide additional economic benefits to the local community.
  • have an outreach/education component.
  • promote a diverse cultural interaction.
  • support the goals of a local watershed or nearshore stewardship group, where one exists for the relevant watershed.

  • NOPLE grant resources list with links to more than forty relevant habitat recovery grant programs
• Comprehensive stakeholder list to facilitate working relationships, information exchange, and collaborative efforts between tribes, governments, oalitions, volunteer groups, non-profits, education, resource industry associations, and the like
